All of the posted answers trigger the number only keyboard, which is not what the OP was asking. The only way I've found to trigger the type='number' keyboard on a text input is to use CSS and JS. The trick is to create a second number input, which you overlap on top of your text input using css.

Nov 7, 2018. #1. I like the in built Apple keyboard, but I use swipe so use gboard keyboard now. Only thing I miss is the ability to pull down on letters to get a numbers and symbols. I don't think this is on the iPhone keyboard anyway, wish it was, but on gboard you have to hold down on the letter.
